The shop

Sit down. Have a drink. Stay a while.

More than just a store, we're a place to hang out. Lounge with a coffee while your friends try things on. Tell a stranger across the aisle they look good. Walk the runway. Leave with something you won't find anywhere else.

  • Bring the friend who hates shopping. The couch is for them.
  • Try it on. The fitting room is right there.
  • Ask what came in this week. There's always something.

Shop with a drink in your hand, or rent the room for a private shopping night, a bachelorette, a book club, or a birthday. Who needs storage when you can have a speakeasy??

  • On the menuRainier $5, IPA and pilsner $7, seltzer $6, kombucha $5, coffee $5, soda water $2.
  • 21+ for the drinksThe shop is for everyone (the pours are not).

Our story

Best friends first.

Melissa and I started out as best friends, became sisters-in-law, and eventually became business partners. What began as a shared passion for thrifting and a fun hobby has grown into the business we're so proud to call Thread Hunter.

We started small, hunting for unique finds, reselling pieces online, and participating in pop-up markets. As our little hobby continued to grow, we began wondering if we could turn our love of secondhand clothing into something more.

In 2023 we found the perfect place to take that next step: The Ballard Collective, a wonderful community of small businesses sharing one space. We spent two and a half years there, growing Thread Hunter, meeting amazing customers, and building a community of regulars who became such an important part of our journey.

With the support of our loyal customers, friends, and family, we were able to take another big leap and open our very own storefront in the heart of Ballard, the neighborhood we've proudly called home for more than a decade. Having a storefront of our own in our beloved Ballard community has truly been a dream come true. We're so grateful to everyone who has supported us along the way and helped Thread Hunter become what it is today.

Come by, say hello, and see what you can discover!

Good to know

Questions we get on the phone.

Do you buy clothes?+

No. We don't buy, trade, or consign. Everything on the racks is hunted down by us. It's the number-one question we get, so: no, but thank you for thinking of us!

What do you carry?+

Men's, women's, kids, and dogs. Outdoor gear, vintage, everyday basics, graphic tees, festival wear, and costumes. If it's fun and it's in good shape, it has a chance.

What sizes do you have?+

Whatever we found that week, and we try hard to keep every size on the rack. Ask if you can't find your size, we might have something in the back.

What does stuff cost?+

More than Goodwill, less than the vintage boutiques. Most things on the rack are $10 to $40, and every tag is marked. We keep it fair so you can leave with a bag, not a single shirt.

Do you sell online?+

Some of it. Find us on Poshmark and Depop. The shop is where the good stuff is, though.

Is the speakeasy open to everyone?+

The shop is for everyone. The drinks are 21+ with ID, and you'll need to know about the storage room. Ask at the counter.

Can I host something here?+

Yes! Private shopping nights, bachelorettes, book clubs, birthdays, kitten adoptions. Email us or DM @threadhunterseattle and we'll figure it out.

Where do I park?+

Street parking on 22nd and the side streets, usually easy. We're a short walk from the Market Street buses, next door to Sam's Sushi.
